When I think of making the world a better place, I think of a world that's inclusive of every race, culture, nation, religious belief, gender, class and position. If I left anyone out, it's not intentional. As long as the process of their thinking, benefits the whole world I am for it. To have an earth that's harmonious with the things that make up life puts humanity on another level. Love others as you would love yourself, is the most perfect law of humanity. The key here is love of self. When we learn to love ourselves, the door to a better world cracks open a little more. The truths of life are hard to dispute, because they ask for no support. Love for self is the most important truth. You can love no one or nothing without it. Being cognizant about what makes and defines you sharpens a person's focus. The more you understand who you truly are, the sooner you reap the benefit of applying or replacing the way and how you do things. It's not an easy task, because people are used to doing things a certain way and those ways become a comfort zone. In order to grow, you have to reach beyond those comfort zones.
Life has a lot to offer and often we miss what it offers, because of worn out and just wrong traditions and beliefs. Understanding where you came from gives you a foundation to build on. To know thyself is the same as to love yourself. It's impossible to separate them. Your future has a direct connection to your past. What you take from that and go forward with, will determine what your true success will be. I say this because everyone bases success in different ways. If what gauges your success involves measuring how much you have contributed to making this world a better place, then we may be of kindred spirit. That does not mean that there aren't unlimited measurements that are just as meaningful to making the world a better place.
It's the understanding of these beliefs that provide the strengths and pillars we build the rest of our life accomplishments on. The understanding of self is a more than just a benefit, it is also a gift. To be mindful of whom you are, what makes you, what destroys you, what are your strengths, weaknesses, opens you to an inside view of your DNA.
When we become better, it makes the world better. It's that momentum that mirrors the process of life itself. In order for life to grow and sustain, certain truths must exist and those truth exist in everything we say and do. How we grow is determined by how much we cultivate our mind, body and spirit. I know this statement is over done, but it still remains the truth. What you reap is what you sowed. The cause and effect of our way of thinking and actions will manifest itself. What separates you is the ability and drive to directly affect your future. Knowing thyself gives you that advantage. Your pursuit for a better life is the measured by the road traveled, not by arriving at a destination. What you do with what you are armed with measures your character and values, so be careful how you use these gifts. I was brought up to believe what I thought of myself, was more valuable than what others thought of me, so it's important that what I believe about myself, that I be just that. That selfishness can only be a benefit.
